Tricks Importing MOV to Camtasia Studio 8 Smoothly

When adding video files MOV to Camtasia Studio, I cam across problems. Camtasia Studio 8 will not import .mov files copied from my iPhone. Any solution for me? I've researched almost everywhere and finally found some possible ways.

Solution 1: Install Quicktime correctly.

But when I tired it, that doesn't work. You’d better find an actual fix.

Solution 2: Rename your .mov file to .mp4 and then import it.

After a try, it still doesn’t work either.

Solution 3: Convert MOV to H.264 MP4 for importing to Camtasia Studio.

According to Techsmith support website, Camtasia does support importing QuickTime movie files. However, .mov is just a wrapper. The bigger and better question is what's inside the wrapper (commonly called a codec). So you can have a .mov file that uses different codecs. It could be DNxHD, ProRes, DVCPRO, etc. So, simply rename your original MOV files may not work.

An ultimate solution is to convert MOV to MP4 H.264 encoded with a MOV file converter app. Brorsoft Video Converter is one of the best OV decoder/encoder for you.

The program is an easy-to-use MOV converter for you, which can help you change MOV into a different format like MP4/H.2 64 with least quality loss. You should then be able to import the new file into Camtasia Studio with smooth editing without any trouble. It will ensure a perfect QuickTime file importing, playing and editing workflow with Camtasia Studio 8/7/6. For Mac users, just get Video Converter for Mac to get th job done.

1. Add MOV files

Run the MOV converter program and click add button to import the MOV files. As you can see, you can also drag and drop the media to the program's main interface.

2. Choose output format

Click Format bar and choose H.264 High Profile Video(*.mp4), H.264 Main Profile Video(*.mp4), or H.264 Baseline Profile Video(*.mp4) from "Common Video", which can be recognized by Camtasia.

Tip: Click the Settings icon to adjust video and audio parameters on the Profile Setting as you need to get the best quality video.

3: Starting converting MOV files

Simply click the "Convert" button to start converting and everything else will be automated. If you have added quite a bunch of video files, it would take some time to convert. In such case, you can click Option and tick the box “Shut down the computer after conversion”.

You're done. Now your MOV files will be converted into MP4 files ready to be imported to Camtasia Studio beautifully.
