VOB files and Windows Movie Maker - Import and Edit VOB files in Windows Movie Maker

Published on by Chris King

"According to what I read, this version of Windows Movie Maker SHOULD import .vob files unlike previous earlier versions. The problem is that when I import, there is no sound and a 870MB file only shows 3 or 4 seconds of video. Obviously something's up."

According to what I read, VOB is basically a MPEG-2 video file which is stored in Video_TS folder in a DVD. As this kind of video file usually contains one or several audio tracks and subtitle tracks that are multiplexed together into one stream form, it is not so easy to playback or edit. To get VOB files to play nice in Windows Movie Maker, the easiest way is to convert VOB to to a more editing-friendly format, such as WMV for Windows Movie Maker.

Actually, it's not as difficult as you imagine. What's need is just a common video converter like Brorsoft Video Converter. It supports creating high quality WMV video for your Windows Movie Maker on Windows 10/8/7/XP/Vista, no matter what's the format of your source video files including but not limited to VOB, MKV, DivX, MTS, MXF, etc. Download the converter and follow the steps to change VOB format to Windows Movie Maker with ease.
