How to solve DVR-MS files and Plex Errors
I have a large collection of TV shows stored in DVR-MS containers, some recorded by Windows Media Center and some ripped. The files each contain a single MPEG2 video stream and a single AC3 audio stream. I want to play DVR-MS via Plex to expose the video collection to the other devices like Surface RT, laptop, WinPhone 8, etc around the house. Surprisingly, Plex won't open the DVR-MS files. I just get a message "Error while opening file". Any possible ways to enable Plex to read DVR-MS files?

A little searching turns out the solution. Actually, the TV shows recorded with Windows Media Center encoded in DVR-MS proprietary file format are incompatible with Plex; therefore, if you want to add DVR-MS files to Plex, there’s a bit of work to be done- These DVR-MS files needs to be converted to a Plex friendly file format. And as far as I know, MP4 is one of the formats that has native support from Plex media server, for it’s a nice video compressing method to keep the file size reasonably small while not losing much quality.

To encode DRV-MS to Plex Media Server, you can get help from a video app called Brorsoft Video Converter.

Overall, the program can be used as a utility to convert DVR-MS to Plex friendly MP4 videos and more regular file format like mkv, avi, mpg, mov, .wmv, flv, etc with high quality and fast encoding speed.
