Premiere CC MKV- MKV to Adobe Premiere Pro CC Workflow

I am new to editing and have been trying to find the best and easiest way to import MKV files into Premiere Pro CC. No problems during splash screen or project startup, but when I try browsing for a MKV video file in the import box or attempt to drag and drop MKV files from my local disk, a Premiere prompt says a fatal error has occurred and shuts down.

Read 10+ threads in Adobe forum, and I got know Adobe Premiere now does not support MKV import. A workable way is to convert MKV files to Premiere Pro CC compatible format.  Brorsoft Video Converter for Mac is what you need. It’s the optimal MKV converter for you, which can help you decode the MKV files when converting into a different, and ideally more edit friendly, compression format like MPEG-2 for your Adobe Premiere Pro. Besides MKV, this video convert program can also help to convert between any popular video and audio formats as you need. If you are working on Windows PC, please get the Video Converter.

How to import MKV files into Premiere Pro CC

1. Add MKV movies > Run the MKV to Premiere Pro Coverer; click the Add button to load .mkv files to the program from your computer. You can also directly drag the video files into the program.

2. Select the output format > Hit the Format bar to choose output format from the dropdown list. For MKV to Adobe PP editing, Adobe Premiere/Sony Vegas > MPEG-2 (*.mpg) is one of the best compatible video formats for you to choose.

3. Video Settings >Click the “Settings” button and customize proper video/ audio parameters if necessary.

4. Start conversion > Simply click the Convert button to start converting MKV video to Premiere Pro CC friendly video formats.

Within several minutes, you can find the converted file on your computer by clicking the “Open” button. And then you can import the converted files to Premiere Pro CC for editing via its “Import” option.

Editor’s Note: The versatile MKV to Premiere CC Converter is not only designed for converting MKV files for Adobe Premiere. It is also professional in making MKV, AVI, MTS, MXF, MPG, etc files editable in Adobe After Effects, Avid Media Composer, Final Cut Pro, iMovie, etc to meet your different needs.
